to be clear. there are definitely places i dont take my kid (yet). for one, the cinema. two, lectures. and i have a good number of film maker and academic friends. so ive had to skip out on some really tempting offers. but i dont take aza (at this stage of her life) to some indie film or lecture.
because she would be bored as fuck.
and she is a talker (did i mention the extraversion? yeah…) a mover and shaker
and there is no video game or coloring book or sleeping pill or whatever that would hold my gemini rising/aries sun kid.
i have talked to parents who could take their 4 year old to a movie or a lecture and the kid just puts on the ear phones and plays video games or just falls asleep or sits there quietly or i dont know what…but aza would be miserable. (when i was 4 i could go to such events with my mom with and just chill…but my brother at that age couldnt deal…). and those parents are surprised i can take aza to a party, where their kid would be overwhelmed and cranky and super shy, but aza is calm and delightful and just happy to be there watching and talking to people.
see, how kids arent the same. see, how they are like…i dont know…people…? who are like…individuals…? and judging who kids are, based on their age, is like…i dont know…bigoted and age discrimination and just showing that you lack in basic reasoning skills?
