New haircut: $30 hair trimmer from Kmart, and a half an hour.

Man, I really need to deal with the weeds in my front yard.

OOTD today.

Had an afternoon tea birthday party to go to. I don’t really have anything fancy, so I made myself a dress. It’s a mashup of Butterick 4443 and my own sloper for the bodice. I bought the pattern after seeing Tegan’s version.

Not happy with the neckline - I had a few issues and basically winged it, but I think I know how to make it better. It is far from perfect, but I’m really pleased with it as a project. It came together surprisingly easy, and I didn’t freak out at the mistakes. I think I might have leveled up in sewing :P I will definitely make this pattern again, now I have some of the kinks ironed out.

Fabric is just plain cotton from Spotlight. Fat necklace is from Natalie. Hot from the Gilles St markets. I’m wearing a super dodgy petticoat that I made for a costume a couple of years ago. I think I need to buy a nice one.

Went to the party with my sweetie, who also kindly took the photos. But I took this one.

OOTD for yesterday.

We had a ‘neon’ themed party to go to. I don’t really have much super bright stuff, turns out. I don’t wear this skirt much because it is a bit bright for my comfort zone, and also a bit short since my arse got bigger.

I ended up feeling pretty self conscious. You can see my bra through that top, and also, NIPPLES. But guys, that’s just how my nipples are, and it was really hot and damned if I’m wearing uncomfortable things just because I have pointy nipples. So I wore it anyway, which I am calling a win. I didn;t think I’d enjoy the party much but I ended up talking about the Cold War and webcomics and YA fiction with someone who has previously just been an acquaintance, which was awesome and I had a ball.

Singlet: Kmart, size 18.

Skirt: Cotton on, size 16

Shoes: birks.

Bike shorts (which you can see peeping out the back): DIY

Blue lipgloss: Shiro cosmetics.

OOTD photo from last week.

Here is the apple skirt I made. It is super dodgily finished but I love it anyway, and also it has POCKETS.

Singlets: both from Kmart.

Ugh and I’m definitely cutting my hair off.

What I wore today: Homemade edition

Dress - Haus of Teegee (with a little help from Buttericks 4443)

Belt: City Chic size S/M

Shoes: Barkins size 8

This is the dress I made over the weekend.  I’m so happy with this one.  The pattern is Buttericks pattern 4443 which is made in pattern size 22 (44 bust) and the fabric is 100% cotton from Spotlight which was $9.95/meter.  The pattern calls for lining the bodice so I lined it with some very cheap creme coloured poplin.

I’d definitely recommend Buttericks 4443 if you’re looking for an easy dress pattern, I know I’ll be using it again.

Oh, wow Tegan that is AMAZING.

Aaaaaaand this is what I wore to work today.

I know, the photos are freaking terrible. I was trying to work out self timer + tripod + lighting + early morning. But I am posting them anyway because I am so excited about this jumper. And also it kind of makes me laugh that the photos are:

  1. Headless fatty
  2. Fuzzy as shit (well, it’s how I was feeling, oks?
  3. FACE OF DEATH.

Jeans: Jeanswest

Belt: A stall in the Victoria Markets where you pick the leather and the buckle and they make a belt that FITS you. I have had this one about two years now and it looks new still.

Undershirt: Cotton On size L

Jumper: Thrifted from Strath op shop. I love this thing so hard. It’s Italian Merino, and it’s so soft and warm and it’s totally my colour. Was supposed to be $6 but it’s the kind of op shop where they look at your arm load of stuff and decide a price. I paid $16 for a WHOLE PILE OF SHIT. Also, it was clothing 2 for 1, so I also got a ridic gold lame top that I couldn’t justify otherwise, but am also extremely excited about.

Rose brooch: thrifted

Earings: Dotti

What I wore to the Fringe opening parade - only we never made it to the parade and I think maybe it was cancelled due to rain? Anyway.

Shirt: No idea. Had it for ages but I never wore it because I thought it made my stomach really obvious and everyone would know I was fat. That’s how long I’ve had it.

Skirt: DIY

Socks: Kmart

Boots: Vintage, from retrostar

Hair bow: eQUIP

This is what I wore to work Friday. I had my partner take a few happy snaps when we got home. The quality isn’t great - there is just not enough light in my house, so they are all a bit fuzzy. If I’m going to take outfit photos, I am going to have to work out what to do about that. And also maybe find a better wall to stand in front of.

We were going to the Fringe Opening Parade after work. We ended up going home first but I tried to dress so that if we had gone straight in I wouldn’t have felt too out of place.

Top: Jayjays

Hair rose: Target

Skirt: DIY. It’s from an ottobre pattern, but it’s just a basic A-line skirt. And… um, I haven’t hemmed it yet. Which is why it’s a bit of a weird length and a bit uneven (cos it rolls up)

Stockings:  Post

Shoes: Dianna Ferarri I think?

Fat necklace: Definatalie
