Selfies of 2013: outfits and looking tired edition.

Almost none of these were blogged. Thanks go to the HFC for making me up my selfie game.

Today I went into three different stores that have a straight size and a plus size range.

In each of these, the straight size size sixteen was a leetle small and the plus size eighteen was too big. So I guess I am a straight 18 and a plus 16, right?

Guess where the straight size ends? Yup 16 is the biggest. And the plus size? Starts at 18.

God fucking dammit.

I spend a lot of time searching for a diverse selection of people for this blog: fat people who are queer, poc, disabled. The list goes on, and it’s not always easy to find people who identify in these ways in what I consider to be acceptable amounts, even harder to find intersections between them. And when I do, they tend to be pictures from fashion blogs, because that’s pretty much what there is in the way of fat visibility on tumblr.

But this is not a fashion blog.

I know that many people feel most comfortable showing the world their fat when they’ve dressed up. I understand this is true, and I understand that many people like the way that they are with makeup, in their favorite fancy clothes. I know that makeup can make you feel like you’re going into battle. But I also understand that a large part of this reality is because society tells us that it’s only acceptable to be fat if you put a little extra effort into your appearance

You deserve to be fat without any qualifiers.

I want to see you fat without getting dressed up. Fat with no makeup. Fat in sweatpants. Fat just out of the shower or just after waking up.

All of these things while being gay, black, disabled, old, philipino, trans*; every identity is welcome as long as you are fat. Everyone deserves to exist as they are, without anything extra.

So, submit pictures of yourself like this, and we’ll publish them on Friday, October 25.

Click the link above to submit or reblog and promo! Stop by the ask if you have any questions. I can’t wait.

Keep the submissions coming!

EVERYONE SHOULD DO THIS. IT IS SUCH A GREAT IDEA!!! :)

I went through a phase on my blog where I couldn’t be fucked to dress up and I felt like I wasn’t worthy of having a fatshion blog because I was drowning in mental stuff and didn’t look fancy. Then I did some outfit posts in daggy clothes. I think it’s REALLY IMPORTANT to emphasise that dressing up isn’t the only way to dress, especially if you can’t because of health or other reasons.

What I wore to Winter Solstice dinner. I wanted something sparkly to be theme appropriate, but it was also freaking cold and this dress was short, so I put a skirt over it. And then I stole my boyfriend’s jacket.

This is Brazilian plus-size model Mayara Russi, a size 22.

Can you imagine if ASOS or F21 used models like Mayara in addition to their smaller-sized models? Fat folks might actually be able to tell how a garment would look on them! What a novel concept!
